Meitheal Logainm Lanes & Bow-ways
Did you know that O’Connell Street in Ennis was once named Jail Street?
The historical lanes and bow-ways that weave through our town each have their own place in the town’s heritage. To help preserve the historical value of our street names, Ennis Tidy Towns has developed a strategic partnership with local history society Clare Roots to undertake a special project documenting the lanes and bow-ways of Ennis. We have also documented the changes of street names to maintain that piece of our history.
Our partnership has created a new category on the online platform for other towns to follow in our footsteps to document Urban Placenames! You can view the Ennis Tidy Towns Meitheal Project online.
