Ennis Tidy Towns Committee hosted two seminars on Tuesday April 27th in the Civic Room, of Ennis Town Council.The seminars were a great success and were well attended by primary schools, residents groups and tidy town groups from all around Clare,

Presenter Lorraine Power has 10 years experience working as Environmental Awareness Officer for Local Authorities in Ireland where she worked with communities, schools and businesses to promote best environmental practice, waste management particularly composting and waste minimisation. Lorraine assisted schools in implementing the green schools programme. Billy Flynn presented the Wildlife and Biodiversity and is a Tidy Towns Adjudicator from the Department of the Environment.   • Why we as individuals need to prevent waste.
  • How to prevent waste in the first place, thinking of waste as a resource, ways to reuse it and thereby saving resources and money
  • Brief overview of home composting
  • Getting the most out of your household recycling
  • Waste prevention ideas for communities.

Ennis Tidy Towns will over the coming years continue our work in this area.
