ENNIS TIDY TOWNS LOCAL AWARDS NIGHT

Ennis’ win as 2016 Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban centre attracted a huge attendance at the Local Awards Night which was held last Thursday 24^th November. Dr. Janice Fuller’s excellent presentation on the importance of planting to increase pollinator activity was well received. Adjudicators were impressed with the high standard of entries and prizes were presented as follows:

Business Floral Display Winners

Public Buildings Floral Display Winners

Garda Station, Ss Peter & Paul Cathedral, Ennis Friary, CBS Primary.

Green Areas Winners

Approach Roads: Tulla Road, Francis Street, St. Flannan’s Terrace

0-40 Private Housing Estates: Iniscarragh, Meadowcourt, Hazelgrove

41+ Private Housing Estates: An Sean Dún, Ivy Hill, Westfields, Garran na Coille

0-40 Local Authority Estates: Stone Court, Dalcassian Park, Dalcassian Avenue.

41+ Local Authority Estates: McNamara Park, Marian Avenue, Clancy Park

Overall Winner: An Sean Dún.

Ennis Tidy Towns Biodiversity Work Group under the direction of Dr. Janice Fuller, is embarking on writing a Biodiversity Plan for Ennis. With this in mind It would be of enormous help to the group if you would complete the brief 10 question survey below.

5 star insect hotel for Ennis

Thanks to St. Anne’s School biodiversity entry in this years Ennis Tidy Towns Schhol competition titled – “An appreciation of Biodiversity Nature and the Environment in General as a key feature theme “, Ennis insects can avail of 5 star accommodation. Great credit to the pupils of St. Anne’s and their teachers for coming up with this very novel and informative project!

What better way to take in our beautiful town than to get on your bike! Ennis Tidy Towns supports Bike Week and hope you can too by taking a leisurely cycle around our town and appreciating all it has to offer. Ennis has never looked better and thats down to our wonderful community. Thanks to all for your ongoing commitment to helping us keep Ennis at its best.

Ennis Tidy Towns would like to thank all of you who have spent your days and evenings with us preparing for our annual Tidy Towns entry. First phase judging is now in full swing and the national judging panel will be visiting our town soon. We do not know when they will visit so our message to everyone is be prepared and ensure our town is looking its best!!!!

Ennis Tidy Towns asks you to help our diligent students working with us over the summer to keep our approach roads looking their best. Simply keep an eye out for stray litter around your residence and dispose of any waste you come across, recycling if possible. Remember example is powerful!

All you have to do is keep an eye on our facebook page to find out which area we are cleaning each week and turn up ready for action.
